Use your literature book (7th grade McDougal Littell Literature Book) or the internet to find information, explanations, and definitions of each of these topics.  Write one paragraph or the definitions that correspond with each topic.  This project is worth 500 points (5 homework grades), and it is due on Monday, April 14, 2014.

I feel that in order for me to teach English as a Second Language (ESOL) well, I need to be knowledgeable about technology.  I am often trying to find websites that I can use as tools to help my students to learn faster.  Here are some really good websites for ESOL:

Phonics vs. Whole Word

Although I believe that sight words are a good start for understanding vocabulary words that may show up in a higher frequency, I do not agree with only teaching sight words. In my opinion, it is the worst way to teach a child to read. Phonics are so much better. This video will show you why.






 My next series of blog posts will focus on learning phonics. As a teacher, I can attest to the fact that students who know, understand, and apply phonics are my strongest readers.
